The important peculiarity of India’s political debate is centered on the fact that everyone claims to be a secular while accusing other political parties and leaders for not implementing it. During the colonial era, the congressman identified the concept of secularism with nationalism. This is because of the appeal of the Hindus, Muslims and other religious groups were defining the secular credentials of the congress. Furthermore, congress was only the party which had strong and powerful leaders who knew to swing the deal in their favor.

Secularism is not a flyby night concept. It is a concept which has entirely opposed to the concept of communalism. Communalism does not give any importance to any national growth and development; it only concentrated on certain community. The concept of Nehruvian secularism will have its own legacy to do an analysis and the research. Members of the congress which was projected as a secular party had band of members who were very religious and non-religious in nature.

Both the Congress and the BJP has played a vital role to invoke a populist and added lot of logic to define the secular fabric of the nation. However, the changing nature of the Indian political analysis has given the exercise a new and different meaning. We no longer do need to reflect a concept of pluralism as long as it is assumed to be tolerant. Aristocrats like Akbar and Asoka have gone ahead and stressed on a highest cultural mix of people in India.

By making various claims, which is not in the control of state, the Congress came to stake claims to form the government. During the rule of Gandhiji, Congress was subjected to two major developments, namely the divide and rule policy and neutrality towards the British rule. Indian politics is one of the sweetest divide between the society and the state. The government has been very particular in avoiding the violence and prevents the exploitation in the name of religion.

The inability or the unwillingness to stress on the concept of monopoly is using the violence in the own name. There is no weakness in the Indian society. However there is a logical struggle which came into being in the year 1990 when India opened its door to liberalization. Hindu nationalism came into being with the rise of organizations like the RSS (Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh) which was banned and not given any encouragement in the public institutions. They have always represented the Hindu masses and in the year 1984 the Hindu nationalism was at its peak. The shifting balance of power took place between the BJP and the Congress. The concept of Hindu nationalism is wide and does not have any political model or patterns. The conflict between nationalism and communalism is not a new one and has been taking place for a longer time. Political parties have used communalism and communist politics to increase their vote banks and come to power. We have structural, logical and historical facts used to define Indian politics and shows relationship between political parties and their credibility.
