The best Army action ever taken by Indian Army as per me was in the year 1971. In 1971 Indian army freed Bangaladesh from Pakistan. The Indo-Pakistani conflict was sparked by the Bangladesh Liberation war, a conflict between the traditionally dominant West Pakistanisand the majority East Pakistanis.

The 1971 war resulted in Partition of Pakistan. And India was no more rounded by Pakistan by 2 sides.

The worst Army action would be the Peace war in Shri Lanka from 1987 to 1990. Indian Army was sent to perform a peacekeeping role but engaged in fights with LTTE(Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam). The army action not only angered Local Tamil Indians but also was responsible for assasination of formar Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

What you have quoted is related to Wars.

But i think the best actions other than wars would be:

  1. They saved Prince when he fell in borewell.
  2. Their rescue program in Uttarakhand
  3. Sikkim earthquack

and many more civil operations. And dont forget the famous Punjab Blue star operation.
