Yes bank provides zero balance a/c for CAs.

Documents required: PAN, Licenses like vat certificate/ Service tax registration / professional tax, rental agreement, few photos, CA certificate. It takes approximately 7 days to open the a/c.

I suggest as professionals State bank of India is preferred though the services over the counter is pathetic.

The reasons why are

A. All the clients will not have an online banking account.

B. State bank of India provides one channel for payment of all taxes and duties upto 8.00 P.M.

C. The rapport with bank can be built based on the facilities and be suggested to clients.

D. State bank of india provides loans to MSME sector enterprises to tune of Rs. 1 Crore without collaterals.

Considering the above points, the focus is to get more business with convienence rather than looking for friendly bank relationship which is of no use.

Always said some where else, the brilliance always lies in solving a situation in hand rather a hand to a situation.

Hope the answer meets the basics..!

I agree with CA Sundeep Kamath. and even the across the counter service of SBI or any PSB today is not that bad. But the main point is we have very little need for counter services. Once you have internet banking, the entire gamut of services is available online. The trick wth SBI is to have a small branch in the suburbs ( may be near your residence) as your base branch. Since these will be personal banking branches, the rush and crowding of branches in the business district will not be there. Also you will be able to easily arrive at a good rapport withthe branch officials.
