Lot of student can be seen in various libraries reading current affairs. All these wants to get a government job.

There is craze in north India for government job. The first condition in farmer class is to get a government job for marriage.

People wants to give girl only to boy who has a government job.

Why you think government job is better than a private job and if you think private job is better, than why?

It depends on your interest. For some people government job is a dream and for some getting a private job is dream. Both jobs are fine, unless you are really sitting at home doing nothing.

Government job is tough to get. It is very difficult to get a government job due to huge number of students or over aged appearing for the job or due to reservation system.

I believe going forward demand for government jobs will decrease to a little extent due to reduction in corruption. People love government job so they can make huge money by accepting bribes.

Well, this is first point.

Another point is, people want government job to serve nation. Though this is a myth, you can serve your country by doing private jobs also by paying taxes honestly.

People don't go to army jobs for making money, but most of them for deed. A large population is also unfit for private jobs, at least in organized industry.

As per me government jobs are good if you are aiming for officers post and your intention is to serve nation and not increase corruption.

Private jobs are any day ever green and as far as there is no recession kind of situation, people are happy in this sector.

Government jobs are for lazy people!!! First we need to select which level we are discussing. There are different levels of government jobs, ranging from basic level babus to higher level IAS officers.

Post interesting jobs are in higher level including foreign services.

But yes most of the lower level jobs are handled by irresponsible people. General people most of the time interacts with lower level babus and these babus have made a bad image in eyes of public.

This is my thought from view of public.

But, from view of a candidate, government any day is great. He has job security, good pay, timely increment and currently if you see the minimum salary of a government employee, its too above normal private employee.

Government has benefits of:

  • Higher job security,
  • More salary and other source money,
  • Less stress,
  • good contacts,
  • respect in society.

But again some jobs like police are very hard to do. Army is totally different game play.

I think you all have some past guilt about government employees. Government jobs require responsibility, it gives some power to its employees, in fact exclusive power which some time wrongly utilized to benefit some interested people.

Government employees are also hard working. Basically people at top are self motivated whereas at lower level needs motivation.

Police job is hardest, jobs in revenue department are most respected.

I have friends working in government and private jobs, and they are happy with what they have.

Jobs are totally once personal choice and cannot be ranked upon our own views.

Dear Prakash,

I respect your views, but this discussion is about expressing our own view regarding private jobs and public jobs. Each job has got its own merits and demerits, we are discussing that.

Yes, so far opinions are from view of a service receiver from these employee. Unfortunately most of the people on board are either self employed or working in private sector. We need someone from public sector also to get his view.

You can notice, how many people working for government put their views online. Very few compared to private employees, they do not want any up-gradation in knowledge or skill sets. Their jobs are secured.

You need not to defend anyone here. Yes, opinions are from service receivers point and really need a government employee to get his opinion on his job satisfaction.

Government employees are totally useless and a burden on society. Take it, challenge me. I will be happy if you can prove me wrong!!!

Ashok Khemka is a prominent and exception among many other exceptions. It is totally wrong on our part to bring down the dignity of government officers.

In every industry whether government or private, there are always good and bad elements present. We need to report and bring down the bad elements.

More importantly public awareness is right answer for removing the bad culture from government offices, Modi alone cannot do it.

Its like a cycle, government controls private industry and public can control the government officers.

Public need awareness and use their rights.
