List of top classifieds website in India and analysis of their success

Classifieds is one of the biggest revenue making niche on Internet. Many people have benefited by launching their own classifieds websites.

We have seen many new classifieds websites in India and numbers are still increasing. Until mid of last decade, the market was somehow unorganized and many different websites ruled the classifieds market. However in recent years, the market has started consolidating. OLX and Quikr have advertised their portals heavily on various advertising Medias.

Top classifieds websites in India and their market share with analysis of present status in niche

Here is a list of top classifieds websites in India.

  1. Quikr.com: Quikr is biggest classifieds website in India. With a good Alexa rank and huge traffic, the site remains top Indian classifieds website. However, the site was earlier blamed for irrelevant listing and spam ads were a big issue. Quikr seems to have come over the spam issue and now most of the listings on site are clean. Quikr is finding new ways to enhance user experience and recently launched Quikr NXT to enable chats between buyers and sellers. Quikr with heavy marketing budget and lot of listings is projected to be the largest game player for a big time. However, Quikr is running in loses and have not seen profits in a single year. This could be due to burning cash in heavy advertising and increasing user base. The site can be monetized once a loyal user base is established.
  2. OLX.in: Olx is biggest competitor of Quikr in India. OLX shares the same story as Quikr and both sites are competing with each other to capture a larger Indian market. Both OLX and Quikr have same strategy when it comes to marketing their services. Both the companies have never seen positive cash flow. User acquisition is main target for OLX too.
  3. Justdial.com: Justdial is most successful classified website of India. Justdial earns huge profits and is listed in stock markets. Company enjoys a valuation of more than Rs. 10,000 crores  ($2 Billion).  Justdial is not only a leader in online classifieds websites but also enjoys a near to monopoly status in Phone classifieds. Justdial introduced phone search and in this niche Justdial does not face any competition from other classifieds leaders. Justdial is here to play the game for long run and probably would be only classifieds to remain in positive cash flow after dust settles in current warzone.
  4. Sulekha.com: Sulekha is another classifieds and making more profits than OLX and Quikr. Sulekha is established classifieds portal and is one of the highest viewed and searched website in India. Sulekha has more listing and user experience is one of the best. Paid listings are great products and advertisers are provided leads after dew verification. Sulekha is not only present in India but also have presence in North America.

Get it yeallow pages is one of the oldest classifieds service provider. They have been top in offline classifieds but have lost the online battle.

Locanto is famous worldwide but in Indian market site is not very famous.
