Why Reservation hampers Indian economy

SC /ST and OBC people have always complained saying that they suffer from poverty, they have been subjected to discrimination in past, were not allowed to temples, and they were servants to higher caste people. Now the Generation has changed. SC/ST and OBC are into all fields mainly politics as well. They have been uplifted to an extent. Then what is the need to still have reservation in jobs, education system etc. This is nothing but a mantra for vote bank politics. Everything at the cost of hampering of economy of this country and discouraging real talents.

It was true that few brahmins in the past had discriminated lower caste people. But how can the current generation of general category made to suffer for the past misdeeds .It is always assumed that General category are rich compared to ST & SC people. This is an illogical argument because casteism and economic status can never be co-related. Even, if you see the history of brahmins (considered as upper class hindus by SC/ST), their livelihood was primarily based on alms. They were good at Vedas and Shastras. Vaishyas were into business, Kshatriyas were warriors fighting for the country and the shudras were the labour class.

Now, this generation of brahmins, vaishyas and kshatriyas are considered to be General category since it is assumed that they have inherited lot of wealth from their ancestors and hence government wants to uplift the Shudra category.

I don’t deny, every community has to be uplifted for the overall development of the nation. But how is that giving reservation to particular caste that too based on the population of some old census data. Was not seven decades enough for upliftment of scheduled castes? Many of the SC, ST & OBC citizens have achieved financial status in life and it would be unfair if they still enjoy this caste based reservation. Reservation is making these guys lazy, many of the merit based students are losing opportunities in jobs, college admissions due to reservation system, and many ST/SC/OBC people are enjoying this facility without working hard.

If SC ST people go on to become doctors , architects, engineers in this country based on reservation and not based on real merit, imagine the plight if this country. Reservation kills the spirit of competition in a modern world.

Reservation is bad, not only for economic but also but general society. How can we evaluate the qualification of a person who has obtained degree not based on his education but caste.

This is really a big problem India is going through, I would say common stop this injustice. There are other methods we can try to uplift the backwards.

The reservation system in India has done worst than it was supposed to. Reservation was made to uplift the backwords, but what happened.

Students from general category are deprived of their rewards they get from studying hard. Reservation was meant to be to uplift the backwards but what it has done.

Even from backward society, the people who are educated and above creamy layer are enjoying the fruits of this illogical arrangement.
