Top 3 Indian Mobile Handset Manufacturers
India with a population of more than 121 crore, provides one of the biggest market to Telecom companies. Though not much mobile handset makers were visible in India during the last decade. But towards the end of last decade many Indian companies ventured in Handset business and few of them gained the huge Indian market. Lets discuss the top three Indian Mobile Handset makers.
Micromax, As per Global Handset Vendor Market share report from Strategy Analytics is the 12th largest handset manufacturer in the World. And largest Indian Mobile handset Company. Thogh initially the products were considered as down market in line with chinese Phones. But micromax with its cheap phones but full features and good customer services succeeded in Indian market and today remains the biggest Indian Handset maker. Micromax offers mobile ranging from Basic handsets to smartphones and Tablets.
Micromax has grown rapidly since its entry in business in 2008. The strategy of Micromax to succeed was aggressive low pricing in the entry-level segments of its products and its wide distribution setup. Micromax earned a Revenue of Rs 1, 978 crore in 2011-12 against the revenue of Rs 2, 289 crore in 2010-11.
Karbonn entered in handset market in 2009 and shares a history similar to micromax. Full featured and cheap Rate was the main stratagy of Karbonn Mobiles. Karbon made it presence through out country by its aggressive marketing and sponsered some famous sport in India such as Indian Premium League. Like Micromax, Karbonn Mobile also offers mobile ranging from Basic handsets to smartphones and Tablets.
Karbonn earned a revenue of Rs1, 327 crore in 2011-12 against a revenue of Rs 1, 004 crore in 2010-11.
Since entery of Spice mobility in the handset market through the entry level segment, the progress has been rapid and constant. Spice Mobility introduced the first dual mode phone and dual SIM PDA (Spice D-1100 GSM/GSM) in the Indian market. As of july 2012 Spice had a total market share of 2.6%.
Spice mobility earned revenue of Rs 7, 90 crore in 2011-12 against revenue of Rs 9, 20 crores in 2010-11.
From the number game Micromax remians the number one company till 2012, but if increase in revenue is to be considered than Karbonn is groing at a better speed. However the 2013 revenue increase in micromax has left behind most of the Indian competitors.
It's good to hear that Indian mobile companies are also doing better and trying to be a good competitor of leading brands. Perhaps it is the cause behind the price down of the mobiles from most of the leading brands. But what I feel that there is still a huge gap between the service after cell provided by the Indian Mobiles Companies and Foreign mobile companies specially by the Nokia. Most of the Indian companies do not pay attention to post sale service or customer complaints. You may read about it on Internet specially by the the brand XOLO owned by Lava. As a result a large number of people do not intend to buy any mobiles from such companies. The Indian companies should must pay an attention towards this fact and do the needful to improve their after sale services to win the faith of customers and prepare a good fight with it's giant MNC competitor mobile companies. What do you think regarding it?
