Aadhaar number is not compulsory for PF account. 100% Aadhaar penetration is not completed yet and it will be impossible to demand Aadhaar for opening a PF account.

However, EPFO is planning to start online transfer facility. With this facility you can withdraw your PF funds and funds will be directly deposited in your bank account.

Currently it has to be done online. To avail this online transfer facility you need to link your bank account and PF account with Aadhaar.

Aadhaar is not compulsory but you need to avail the online facility which will start soon within 3 months.

The EPFO offices across the country have started insisting on aadhar upload of employees by the employer. This project was started in Cot 2014 as UAN project, where in the KYC of the employees was reuired to be uploaded. Then they were not insisting on AADHAR. any KYC document was OK. Now lasw week, considerable pressure is there to upload 100% aadhar of employees. 5th Augst was som sort of deadline whcih was talked about, but nothing official about it.
