Recently Indian Badminton League climaxed without much publicity.

Was it cricket, all tv channels would have telecasted 24 hrs.

Why this double standard.

The reaon for this is economical.

Emotions are for short term. Only those things get hyped which generate revenue.

Cricket is watched more, so more advertisement and sponsership revenue.

Badminton is not watched much hence less revenue.

Everything in this world has economical reasons to spread. Whether its sports, religion or anything.

No it was not any kind of double standard if you take this matter neutrally.

I think it's the popularity of the Cricket which forces all media to engage themselves as far as possible. As far as Badminton and most of the sports in India are not so poular one in our country in comparison to Cricket, media was not so far interested. As in the field of media world popularity is directly linked with economics or their benefit. More the popular, more the profit. In this context media invests more time and money in Cricket in contrast to any other sports at lest in Indian subcontinent.

It is government and other concerned bodies who may change this scenario if they build their hard and strict will unanimously. They should show more encouragement to the players of the other sports over cricket and appreciate them so that people may receive a message that the other sport is also good for money and fame. It will take a time but things may go to a brighter way. Till then the scenario will stand as it is now.

As far Indian Badminton League issue, one clear reason behind it's low popularity was the less viewer oriented arrangement of the tournament like too strict law implentation for the viewers going to watch the match and odd timings of the matches etc. It may be that was a it's 1st tournament and hope it will improvise itself in the upcoming edition so that more viewers will be inclined towards such tournaments.
